Win Hoff

Wim Hof Wikipedia page

Wim Hof needs to be mentioned here. He’s a controversial figure, a self proclaimed devotee to harnessing the power of the cold. Hof set a record for being immersed in ice without a significant drop in his core temperature. He holds a distance record for an under ice swim.

He has also achieved fame, and notoriety for injecting himself (under medical supervision) with illness inducing bacteria and showing no signs of sickness. If that’s not enough for you, he summits Mt. Everest with no supplemental oxygen or a shirt.

Yes, he has an app you can download and use to get familiar with his methods. It has guided activities that helped me begin my cold water immersion practice and a breath work program. I’ve found that The free version is great but he also sells a membership with all kinds of features.

I used his app to achieve my longest breath hold so far of 5 min 30 seconds.
