What to Eat: Unlocking peak health: the ultimate guide to cold exposure nutrition

Making nutritional choices for peak performance is not easy. Unfortunately, the above snack is not on the approved list of recommended foods. The first place I went looking for nutritional advice involved notes from lectures by the “Ice Man”, the notorious Wim Hof, an inspiration for this blog.

Wim Hof’s Recommendations for Healthy Eating and resources you need

Hof’s Suggestions for optimal eating include maintaining a balanced diet with an emphasis on whole foods. He recommends consuming a mix of nutrient dense meals including fruits , vegetables, lean proteins, healthy fats, and making sure you are hydrated. This recommendation may seem obvious. Yes, eat whole foods, but it full of challenges.

How much to consume at one sitting? The author can relate to feeling a powerful need to eat significant portions of Ben and Jerry’s pints, and then return to the freezer until there is nothing left in the afore mentioned containers. One may be tempted to try to replace such extravagant meals with reduced sugar options (see image above). This is not suitable for feeling or looking your best. Books have been written about this. College courses and seminars have been taught by wise individuals, and many minds more focused and capable of understanding the nuances of nutrition have approached this topic.

Books I suggest: considering this immense topic :

The Four Hour Body by Tim Ferriss: Full of introductions to Fitness and Life Hacks (also includes instructions on cold immersion) Ferriss recommends what he calls the Slow Carb Diet.

The Whole Foods Diet: The Lifesaving Plan for Health and Longevity, bu John Mackey and Alona Pulde: available at Amazon for 16.99 in paperback or go kindle for 11.99 : Despite the author’s connections to big food business, this sounds to me like the most sensible diet information I have ever read.

A classic: The South Beach Diet: by Arthur Agatston,M.D. Some consider this a fad. It’s not It’s been around for a long time . I am still astonished at the effects it had when I stuck to it. which leads to the issue of the day sticking to your plan.

Dear reader, stay tuned for more diet discussions in future additions.
